The Jena Six: A Simple, But Urgent Request


When I saw this video at Rick's blog, I was immediately angry. Something needs to happen to see justice served. Learn more about the Jena Six here. I don't often make so bold a request, but I want to ask you all to do three things:

1. Watch the video and visit the website.

2. Sign the online petition. It doesn't matter if you are American or not, it will help.

3. Send this information to everyone you know. If you have a blog or a website, please post the video and these three simply options. (click here for the YouTube source)

2 - Hey Joe,

Thanks for posting it. It is a sad situation. Of course the young men need to be held accountable for their attack, but the charges are way out of line and the lack of enforcement of the same laws on the white population is clearly not held at the same standard. No pun intended, but the details of the situation are not black and white, but the injustice is.

Thanks. I was aware of this and not surprised. They made a mistake by reducing the charges to assault, as it meant that they couldn't try him as an adult, thus it was dropped. It's good news, but the others still face some serious charges.

Sadly, even if they stop the injustice of this trial, the systemic problems are still there.
